so, since the unfortunate, but timely discovery of the sad closing of the Shakopee festival a week too early for our MeRC populace, I wanted to get the ball rolling on a plan to still go to a RenFair. there are bunches of options that I see.

1) Still attend Shakopee but go on the first weekend after classes. that is the 9th through the 11th. it would be really hard to get everything together and still kinda hard to get everyone back and such for classes on Monday.

2) Attend Shakopee on the second weekend of the block (16th - 18th) Easier to pull everything together but still in the middle of the block.

3) Attend Shakopee on the third weekend of the block (23rd - 25th) Still easier to plan for everything but right before finals week. !!

4) Attend a different Fair.
4a) attend Kansas City Ren Fest over Block break. the ease of having all block to get things coordinated and being able to leave on thursday instead of Friday. yay! drawbacks: unable to see our friends at MN and unknown residency in KC.
4b) Attend The Iowa Ren Fest in Ammana on the weekend before school starts (3&4th) this poses lots of dificulties because it would be very hard to plan. however, we would not have to find lodging and the gate price is much cheaper.

PLEASE comment on this post with your ideas. ALL of you! I really want to have a MeRC trip to a Ren Fair! I love you guys and want to have a great time this year too.
*waits for comments*

nothing happened to it. it is still happening. it is just closing the 25th. end of block is the 28th. as you can see, shakopee is still on the list of options, we just cant go over block break. if we did, there would be nothing there.

A sticky predicament, to be sure.

My vote is trying to pull everything together for the first weekend. It could shaft people who don't have frequent internet/e-mail access, but it would be easiest to fit in with classwork.

Have people offered lodging/tentspace at this point?

you put in a good point about scheduling. moreover, it could shaft just about everyone by bing the hardest to plan. *shrugs* we shall see.

I have yet to hear anything about offered lodging. that also worries me...

The trip to Shakopee will be planned for the third weekend of the block.
